4R Programming
Fertilizer Canada supports national adoption of 4R Nutrient Stewardship through investment in research, training, surveying, verification programs, third-party incentive programs and industry partnerships.
4R Designation
A voluntary professional training program for agri-retailers, agronomists, and certified crop advisors. Designated specialists can develop 4R Nutrient Stewardship plans for farmers and report 4R acres.
4R Certification
A voluntary third-party audited program that verifies nutrient service providers, such as ag-retailers and agricultural service companies, are implementing 4R practices with their farmer customers. Currently available in Ontario.
4Rs Across Canada
Canadian farmers are leaders in sustainability. Fertilizer Canada works with industry and government to track 4R adoption, support continuous improvement, and advance environmental protection.
Fertilizer Use Survey
An annual national survey tracking farmer self reported fertilizer practices, 4R adoption trends and barriers, and farmer perspectives.
4R Acres
A national count of acres managed using 4R Nutrient Stewardship practices through Fertilizer Canada’s agronomy reporting programs (Designation and Certification).
Provincial Partnerships
Collaborative agreements with provincial governments and agricultural partners to expand 4R adoption and support environmental outcomes on the ground.
